Privacy Policy
Climb & Water · Last updated: 8 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data the Climb & Water app (“the App”, “we”, “us”) collects, why, and your rights. We try to keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the App.
1. Who is responsible
The App is operated by Matija Abram, a private individual based in Switzerland (“the Operator”). For any privacy question or request, contact: cycling@skilliyo.com.
2. What data we collect
- Account data: if you create an account, your email address and an encrypted password. This is handled by our authentication provider, Supabase.
- Location / GPS: while you use the gauge or live mode, the App reads your device location to show your current gradient, climb and nearby water. Your continuous track is processed on your device. Individual coordinates are sent to mapping and elevation services (below) only to fetch the map, water points and ground elevation for your area.
- Routes you load: GPX routes you import are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to us.
- Settings: preferences such as units are stored locally on your device.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising trackers.
3. Third-party services we use
- Supabase — account sign-in and database hosting (stores your email/account).
- OpenStreetMap / Overpass — map tiles and drinking-water locations near your route.
- Open-Meteo — ground elevation along your position.
- Google Play — app distribution, and (in future) subscription billing.
- Stripe — payment processing for challenge entry fees (we don't store card details).
- Resend — sending challenge invitation and service emails.
- Google Analytics — website usage statistics, only if you consent via the cookie banner. IP addresses are anonymised. You can decline, and analytics won't load.
These providers receive only what is needed to perform their function (e.g. coordinates to return map/water/elevation data). Each has its own privacy policy.
3a. Cookies & analytics
We use essential browser storage to keep you signed in — this is always active and needs no consent. With your consent (the cookie banner), we also load Google Analytics to understand how the website is used and improve it. Analytics only runs after you click Accept; if you click Reject, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.
4. Why we may process your data (legal bases)
- To provide the App and your account (performance of a contract).
- Your consent, for example when you enable location.
- Our legitimate interest in keeping the App working and secure.
5. How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account exists. Locally stored data (routes, settings, your live track) stays on your device until you clear it or uninstall the App. If you delete your account, your account data is removed from our systems.
6. Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU GDPR, you may request to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, and withdraw consent at any time. To do so, email cycling@skilliyo.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or your local data-protection authority.
7. Deleting your data
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time from Account → Delete my account in the App, or by emailing cycling@skilliyo.com. We will action it within a reasonable period.
8. Children
The App is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
